MS Frontpage:
Please follow the steps below to setup MS Frontpage
on your computer.
- You will first need to create a folder on your
computer for downloading your website. You can
name this folder anything you would like. Most
people name it after their website for example
yourwebsite.com
- Now you will need to open MS Frontpage
and select file from the top right menu and
choose open web.
- Next you will need to browse to where you created
that folder for downloading your website. Once
you find this click on it and then click on the
open button. Now you should be able to see everything
in that folder on the left hand side.
- You next will need to download the site to
your computer. Select file from the top right
menu again.
- Now choose Publish Web and you should see a
new window pop up. Here you will need to input
your FTP info.
- Type your URL under "Enter publish destination" example:
ftp://cwdesigning.com/cwdesigning.com or ftp://cwdesigning.com/public_html
(Depending on which control panel your web host
offers, your remote files will be stored in a
specific directory. For example, if using cPanel,
your files are in public_html. If using Plesk,
your files will be in httpdocs. If you are unsure
about this please contact your hosting company.)
- Next you will need to input your Username and
password.
- Now expand the window to show both local and
remote files. You can do this by clicking on
the button to the lower right hand side that
says:
show.
- Your local files on your computer will be in
the left pane. The remote files on the server
are listed in the right pane.
- You will first need to download your website
to your computer. To do this click anywhere in
the white area in the right pane. Then push down
the Ctrl+A key on your keyboard. This will select
all the files in the right pane on the server.
- Now using your mouse drag and drop the files
into the left pane on your computer. (This may
take
some time to download.)
- Once this is done you can open any page from
the Folder List and edit this page.
- When you are done editing this page you will
need to save it and then publish the changes.
Again select file from the top right menu.
- Then choose Publish Web.
- On the left pane you will see a green check
next to the file or files that you just edited.
this means that it needs to be published. You
can drag
and
drop this or just click on the Publish button
on the button. This will publish the whole website.
